IRB Review

This project has been reviewed by the Yale University Human Research Protection Program Institutional Review Board (case 2000032711) and has received an exemption via limited IRB review.

Voluntary Participation 

Your participation is voluntary.  You can refuse to participate, withdraw, or not answer a question with no negative consequences. If you want to keep certain information private, tell me, and I will not use that information in my dissertation.  If you choose to participate, your responses may be included in my dissertation, and, with your consent, will be attributed to you.

Risks

There are no known or anticipated risks to you for participating other than a possible loss of confidentiality.   


Benefits

You will not directly benefit from participation. Your story may help others with similar interests improve their

understanding of the field


Economic Considerations

The only cost to you for participating in this study will be your time spent in the interview.  There is no compensation for participation.


Confidentiality

Any identifiable information that is obtained in connection with this study will remain confidential.   


To protect your information, all data will be stored on a pass-word protected computer on a secure online server and only available to limited members of the research team.   When the results of the research are published or discussed in conferences, no information will be included that would reveal your identity.  


Representatives from the Yale Human Research Protection Program, the Yale Human Investigation Committee (the committee that reviews, approves, and monitors research on human subjects) may inspect study records during internal auditing procedures.  However, these individuals are required to keep all information confidential. 


I, or my dissertation advisor, Ian Quinn (ginger.dellenbaugh[a]yale.edu; ian.quin[a]yale.edu), are happy to answer any questions you may have about this study. If you would like to talk with someone other than the researchers to discuss problems or concerns, to discuss situations in the event that a member of the research team is not available, or to discuss your rights as a research participant, you may contact the Yale University Human Subjects Committee, 203-785-4688, human.subject[a]yale.edu.
